If a defendant declare a different address in Court than the ID address the interpret should translate nothing else more.
One person can live a different address then ID address or have more than one.
There isn't any dilemma for the interpret.

It was in an US Immigration Court (EOIR), with a Romanian Roma (Gypsy) who tried to impress the court with a lot of BS in order to be granted asylum in the US.

He told the court, under oath, that he lived with his grandmother in a rural area and that the Romanian villagers set the house on fire and killed his grandmother. He stressed out that it was his only residence.

The prosecutor asked the interpreter to sight-translate de Romanian ID, hoping that it mentions the word "Roma" (rom). The ID showed a residence in Bucharest.

Anyway, making a long story short, after five years I was again in court interpreting for the same guy in a criminal matter after he was involved in ATM skimming. He was sentenced to three years in jail and deported.

Sometimes, being too ethical hurts our normal society at large.
