German term

organmedizinische

German to English Medical Medical (general) Bericht tiefenpsychologisch fundierte bzw. analytische Psychotherapie
Dear Colleagues,

We need help with the following word/text:

Psychotherapeutische als auch organmedizinische Behandlungen, mit genauen Angaben wann, durch wen, warum, wozu und mit welchen Ergebnissen die Behandlungen erfolgten.

"Als Organmedizin bezeichnet man ein von der psychosomatischen Medizin abzugrenzendes Teilgebiet der Medizin, das sich mit der Diagnostik, Prävention und Therapie organisch bedingter Leiden beschäftigt."

We find 'organic medicine' as translation very misleading here.

Thanks very much in advance for any suggestion.

Cilian O'Tuama Nov 24, 2022:
Yes, Phil likes telling people what to do. Should. But it can all be put right when the glossary entry is made.
Anne Schulz Nov 22, 2022:
The problem is that "physical medicine" has another meaning (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_medicine_and_rehabili...
uyuni Nov 22, 2022:
w/Lirka 'Physical' vs 'mental' illness meets the context given.
Why not go ahead and post ist as an answer...?
Lirka Nov 21, 2022:
does not mean "holistic"; it relates to physical ailments rather than psychological ones
Stuart and Aida Nelson (asker) Nov 21, 2022:
Thank you Phil! I have just tried to find a way to make the change but cannot see how to do it.
philgoddard Nov 21, 2022:
Could it mean holistic?
Please remember to use uninflected adjectives when posting questions - this is a glossary entry, and should read "organmedizinisch". The same goes for nouns, which should normally be in the singular.

German term (edited): organmedizinische, Organmedizin

somatic, somatic medicine

Just a spontaneous idea (I don't know whether there is any established technical term for that).

Note from asker:
Thanks Anne, yes, that is the question if there is any established technical term :)
Yes, Lirka's solution for the description and incorporation of 'physical ailments' is good
Peer comment(s):

agree Lirka : yes, definitely the right idea, though I am no sure if somatic exists "on its own" in English ( "psychosomatic" clearly does). Perhaps the asker could use a description and somehow incorporate "physical ailments"...

agree Andrew Bramhall : 'somatic' works fine on its own; somatic symptons as opposed to physical ones, for example.

agree uyuni : Man muss nur aufpassen wegen "somatic symptom disorder", was ja wiederum "somatoforme Störung" bedeutet, letztere dann wieder eine psychosomatische Erkrankung...

agree Cillie Swart : seems plausible, thanks for sharing
