Snacks and meal time are an important time in the day of a child. We encourage children to learn about healthy food habits. We aim at providing children with nutritious and healthy snacks. We do not provide lunch within the premises therefore we encourage parents to give their children healthy substantial packed lunches. Before a child is enrolled we find out about allergies. We record allergies and we monitor with parents the evolving of food intolerance. We provide staff with all the information about allergic children and what to do in case of alarm. We implement systems to ensure children receive only food and drinks within their dietary needs. We organise meal and snack times so that they are a social occasion for children and staff to interact and relax. We encourage children to feed themselves and we help them develop independence and co-ordination. We give parents the right information about suitable containers for a packed lunch. A suitable container is an insulated bag to store juice and sandwiches correctly and properly from 9am to 12noon when lunch is served. We have fresh drinking water available throughout the day and we encourage children to drink it. We inform parents of our policy of healthy eating habits. We ensure staff sit with children at lunch time to supervise them and make lunch a socially relaxing time. In case of food poisoning we inform Ofsted ( Royal Exchange Building, St Anne Square. Manchester M2 7LA Tel. 03001231231)
