I Educate Them Aug 24, 2004

By now all my regular clients know that I am only one and my capacity is that of one person only. They also know that I sometimes may be traveling, up to my neck with other clients' urgent projects, other kinds of projects or otherwise unable to provide instant service.

I have a cell phone where I may be reached as long as I am in the country, and if not I at least check my e-mail as regularly as possible wherever. If traveling I can sometimes rent a computer and handle at least a l

I have a cell phone where I may be reached as long as I am in the country, and if not I at least check my e-mail as regularly as possible wherever. If traveling I can sometimes rent a computer and handle at least a limited amount of work.

But I always educate them to the fact that I am just one, and they understand. Also, it is actually quite seldom that I am not able to come through for them.

Internet on your mobile phone Aug 24, 2004

The other day I went to the Nokia shop in my town in order to obtain information about using Internet from my mobile phone.
Although still an expensive service, I find it very practical because sometimes I spend more time and gas looking for a cybercafe in the small seaside village then paying for the Internet conection from my mobile phone (the tarifs are going down in the same way as the ADSL tarif which went from bloody expensive to affordable).

This way, I can check my e-mail WHENEVER I want and WHEREVER my mobile phone works. However; it should only be used to send out confirmations and not to actually translate.
Clients will have my prompt reply, even if I am climbing the Alps (where no cybercafes can be found).
Now, I still haven't bought the phone, because I am between several models. I would realy like to know if anyone of you has experience in the "blue tooth world".
And what about Nokia 6810? Is it worth it's money?
Thank you all and enjoy your holidays wherever you are...

Last year this was possible still with my mail-account, but now the spam amounts to 90 per cent of mail. Hand-held devices cannot cope with this, as they can display only a short list at a time.
But anyway this was not my problem, I had an open internet connection all the time and did answer all messages, but that did not satisfie this particular customer.
I believe SMS would be the best choice, but it is unlikely that these people would start to use it, as they prefer Fax!
