gremaso newbie, neophyte
Creator: | |
Language pair: | Spanish to English |
Definition / notes: | Popular among the surfer cultures of the mid to late seventies. Meaning an unskilled surfer who falls off his board even on easy waves or one who is always getting tumbled into the reefs. It later applied to anyone who is unskilled or clumsy at something, especially at an easy task. Slightly derogatory but not insulting, the term is used as a good natured gibe between friends. Example: ¡Que gremaso eres! = You are such a noob! |
