As a brand you need to consider whether you are prepared to work with a supply chain either to find innovative solutions to bad practices (such as non wrinkled breeds which still produce fine Merino wool) or to support and mentor industries where bad behavior is accepted as the norm and potentially encouraged by poor monetary incentives.
XY has the potential to create good through engagement. If we walk away from supplier due to poor standards, those bad practice will continue, but your brand may be protected. The better approach is to continue to source and influence the move towards greatness.

Promoting good animal welfare should be pre-competitive – we should be sending the same message to all our consumers rather than confusing them by mixed messages.

It will take time, but we have a positive momentum and if everyone works together, we will make a difference.
