English to German Other Ships, Sailing, Maritime Sailing, surfing
to lose control of a boat as a result of wave action so that the boat turns parallel to a steep wave, unintentionally. The English word "broach" usually refers to turning parallel to the wind, unintentionally, but also has this secondary meaning.

broach ist eigentlich Aufschiessen, gemeint ist aber wohl das Querschlagen zur Welle

Die Frage gab es schon mal, dort wurde allerdings der Sonnenschuss als richtige Antwort ausgewählt. Hier fände ich "querschlagen" passender. Vgl. auch http://relationship.m-fink.de/service/sailing/dictionary/q.h...
