I think you are doing a back translation. The translator from Arabic to English, facing the term أشخاص معنويون, not aware of the term "corporate identities" translated it as "moral persons", hence is your perplexity. I think a back-translation is much more difficult than a direct translation of text written by a native. I always raise my rate when I detect that the text at hand is a back-translation.
