English term

in God's wilderness

English to Arabic Other History
A part from the author's acknowledgements of a book about the history of Islam:

Yehuda Nevo galvanised me to cultivate a more intimate acquaintance with archaeological evidence, and I
remember with fondness our many heated arguments (in God's wilderness) over the origins of Islam.

Thanks.

Salam Dr. Noha In this case, I think it would be a good idea to contact the author himself for more clarification:

I have reconsidered my answer after finding a reference for the same text without using round brackets. [Kindly check the uploaded image]

"God's wilderness" does not refer to the famous book, since "wilderness" is not capitalized.

The word wilderness means "a solitary, lonely, desolate place."
http://www.newfoundationspubl.org/wilder.htm
"The wilderness is a locale for intense experiences—of stark need for food and water (manna and quails), of isolation (Elijah and the still small voice), of danger and divine deliverance (Hagar and Ishmael), of renewal, of encounters with God (Moses, the burning bush, the revelation of the divine name, Mount Sinai)."

My original answer:
(التي وردت في كتاب أرض الله الواسعة)
God's Wilderness, Discoveries in Sinai

"God's Wilderness—Discoveries in Sinai by Beno Rothenberg in collaboration with Yohanan Aharoni and Avia Hashimshoni; translated from the Hebrew by Jospeh Witriol. London: Thames and Hudson, 1961. 196 pp., 90 pls., 16 maps and plans. £3. 3s."

"The archaeologist Yehuda Nevo, inspired by Wansbrough’s work and his own archaeological findings in the Negev, argued that a Byzantine withdrawal from Syria in the seventh century resulted in the rise of local Arab chieftains who consolidated their power to form the Umayyad state."

Hi Yassine,
I think it is "أرض الله"
"فَذَرُوهَا تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللَّه"

(فإنها محرمة عليهم أربعين سنة يتيهون في الأرض) [يتيهون في سيناء]
لأن عنوان الكتاب يشير إلى التيه في سيناء، ولكن لا بد من الاطلاع على الكتاب قبل الجزم بذلك

Comment: أعتقد أن العبارة تمثل مثال
اقتبسه الكاتب، لذلك يمكن ترجمتها
