Danish term

afstemning (in this context)

Danish to English Marketing Tourism & Travel
The word appears many times in the text. On one occasion, there is a list of the number of properties in a set number of categories and then the row header 'Total afstemning'. The figure following 'Total afstemning' is the sum of the number of properties in all the boxes above.

Later on, the word appears in another table, this time as 'Afstemning uger' (where the figures indicate a certain number of weeks during which the accommodation is available).

I'd be really grateful if anyone could suggest what is meant here.

Discussion

Mark Andrew Thompson (asker) Jan 24, 2008:
Sorry - I should have mentioned the subject material. The text is about tourism and the potential to increase tourist activity. Unfortunately, 'afstemning' doesn't appear in a full sentence or even a useful phrase. In the first example, there is a table stating that there are [n] properties of one type of accommodation, [n] properties of a second type and [n] of a third. The final row gives the 'Total afstemning' and this is the sum of the number of each type of property.
Nikolaj Widenmann Jan 24, 2008:
Please provide more context. What is the text about? If "afstemning" appears in a sentence, please provide that sentence.

adjustment?

Wiedenmann is right. It would be helpful if you could give some more context. What is the text about? And what is the purpose of it? What is it going to be used for?

The normal two possible translations of "afstemning" is vote/referendum, or adaptation/adjustment. Is it possible that it refers to some sort of adjustment in this case?

The examples you give don't make much sense to me...
Note from asker:
Thanks, Mette. Please see my additional note. Unfortunately, there is little context as the word appears only as a header in a couple of tables.

Total

Wouldn't 'Total' just do it? 'Afstemning' is superfluous as I read you.
