chwilówka In the Polish context they are short term cash loans at usurious rates (if you do not repay promptly), aimed at people who have no credit loan history.

Thank you, Magda. I threw in instant loan. Some of these names have been incorporated into the names of the companies that offer such services. A payday loan may be associated with borrowing up till the day one receives a paycheck, at which time the loan is due or can be extended at usurious rates. Vito Corleone would be embarassed. Reading further, a payday loan may only require having a previous payroll history. Short-term loan is also used, but there are also bank short-term loans for businesses.

I don't have a context - the ST lists an app for reps selling those loans as one of many products of a company. So it's a minor thing and I think I'll just use 'quick loans'.
