As a native English speaker living in France since 1981, I worked primarily for French subsidiaries of British and American groups until becoming a freelance translator in March 2007. As administrative manager and financial controller within these companies, I gained a thorough knowledge of the French business environment.
Throughout my career I also undertook translations concerning commercial, financial, legal and personnel matters, as well as proofreading French and English texts.
Since March 2007 I have specialised in tourism, the luxury sector and wines and spirits. Translations have included magazine articles, newsletters, websites, press releases and general business material (contracts, service proposals, corporate brochures, company presentations, etc.).
As an illustration of language awareness, I obtained a certificate in commercial translation from the Alliance Française in 1984 and successfully completed a CELTA (University of Cambridge certificate in English language teaching to adults) teaching course in 2003.
