Odnepaměti měřily čas, svolávali k modlitbě a také burcovaly před pohromami, požáry nebo plenícími vojsky. To vše pominulo, ale objevilo se nové nebezpečí. Před ním má varovat zvonička u beskydských Trojanovic.
Je to stavba měřítkem drobná, ale silná svým konceptem. Konceptem, který budí sympatie a koncentruje pozitivní energii místa a jeho obyvatel.
Dřevěná zvonička u Trojanovic, kterou navrhl ateliér „beskydského“ architekta Kamila Mrvy, má být projektem spíš spirituálním než církevním. I když také symbolizuje víru, naději a lásku. Víru v citlivý přístup ke krajině a k lidem s ní spjatým. Naději, že se neuskuteční plány vystupující ze stínu reálného socialismu. A lásku k Beskydům, k jejich křehké síle, která teď může být ohrožena.
Rozeznít ducha
O co vlastně jde? Existují návrhy na těžbu černého uhlí v Beskydech. Ačkoli vznikly ještě v časech socialistického hospodářství, kdy se drancováním neobnovitelných zdrojů udržoval pochybný běh revoluce za světový mír a šťastnější lidstvo, kořistění přírodního bohatství ještě stále odzvoněno není. Cílem občanského sdružení Naše Beskydy je tyto plány na těžbu doslova pohřbít, nechat definitivně zasypat důl Frenštát. V létě 2009 oslovili jeho zástupci ateliér Kamila Mrvy, aby jim pro potřebný umíráček navrhl zvoničku. Takovou zvoničku, která by dokázala rozeznít genia loci.
Duchem místa, tedy jakýmsi souhrnem rysů, které vnímáme pro danou lokalitu jako typické, však nejsou vlastnosti jenom vizuální, ale týkající se i ostatních smyslů, jde o zvuky, vůně, zvyky. Pro oživení beskydského ducha se architekti inspirovali lokálními historickými vzory. Jako inspirační zdroje uvádějí roubenou zvoničku v Trojanovicích nebo kapli Cyrila a Metoděje na Radhošti, jejíž fasády jsou proti drsnému klimatu opláštěny šindelem. V tomto smyslu je přístup autorů v lecčems dekonstruktivistický. Rozložili své inspirační zdroje na prvočinitele, aby je zase sestavili – ale tentokrát do současné formy.
Kdo se na jejich zvoničku podívá, nebude na pochybách, že jde o moderní stavbu. Přitom materiály, technika opracování a zpracování, barevnost jsou tradiční. „Moderní vzhled a tradiční řemeslné metody použité pro stavbu zvoničky symbolizují jak vidinu lepší budoucnosti, tak i návrat k tradičním hodnotám“, říkají k tomu tvůrci.
Jasně k hospodě – k dolu úkosem
Také místo pro vybudování stavby bylo vybráno s odkazem na tradice. Zvonička je situovaná v unikátní lokalitě Horečky na pomezí obce Trojanovice a města Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, mezi útulnou Pantáta a hostincem Rekovice. Právě z hostince Rekovice pochází Antonín Bača Horečka, který se nejvíc zasloužil o vznik obce Trojanovice a její samosprávu v roce 1748.
Celou kompozici tvoří dva objekty, samotná zvonice a parafráze kapličky. Kaplička se otevírá jasným gestem k cestě z hospody. Opět symbolické. Hospody jsou tradičním inkubátorem občanského sdružování. Kaplička tak trochu opticky klame, protože se šířkově i výškově zužuje a v příchozích tak vzbuzuje dojem, že je hlubší a delší. Ve skutečnosti je ale drobnou stavbou koncentrující pozornost svých hostů na úchvatný výhled na dominantu Velkého Javorníku. A jaksi úkosem, úzkou štěrbinou ve svém boku, míří pohled směrem ke dvěma těžebním věžím dolu Frenštát.
K vnitřnímu usebrání poskytuje klid přístřešku a lavičku. Vedle stojící zvonice je klátící se samostatnou konstrukcí z dlouhých kuláčů. Stříšku chránící zvon však nese vyrovnaně.
Zvon se rozhoupává táhlem, jež je na zvoničku instalováno jen při slavnostních příležitostech. V budoucnu by tu mělo být elektrické zařízení, které – za symbolický poplatek – každému umožní zazvonit dolům v Beskydech umíráček.
Víc než proklamace
Na plášti zvonu čteme citát spisovatele Josefa Kaluse, frenštátského rodáka: „Kdo hory mé haní, jako by mne haněl, kdo hory mé chrání, jak by se mi klaněl.“ Do zvonu jsou pak vyryta i jména okolních obcí, které vznik projektu podpořily, stejně jako ho podpořila řada sdružení, organizací, firem i jednotlivců. Základní kámen byl slavnostně poklepán ministrem životního prostředí Janem Dusíkem v únoru 2010. Na stavbě se v dubnu a květnu podílely desítky dobrovolníků. Zvonička byla „otevřena“ a požehnána 15. května 2010.
Je sympatické, že reálné hrozbě znetvoření tváře krajiny se místní rozhodli čelit aktem tvoření. Ale stejně tak je mi sympatické, že zvonička obstojí i bez svého aktivistického konceptu. Že je víc než proklamací. Je prostě půvabnou drobnou architekturou, landartovým artefaktem. Až se od plánů na vztyčení důlních věží ve Frenštátě pod Radhoštěm upustí a budou zapomenuty, až důvody, pro které vznikla, pominou, bude pořád stejně krásná.

Since ancient times, they have measured the days, gathered people to prayer, and warned the townsfolk of fires, pillages, and other dangers. All these ancient dangers passed, but a new danger has appeared. The bell tower near the village of Trojanovice in the Beskydy Mountains serves to warn against it.
The bell tower is a construction which is small in size, yet great in concept. The concept has been winning people’s hearts and concentrating positive energy on the location and its inhabitants.
The timber bell tower near Trojanovice, designed by the studio of the Beskydy architect Kamil Mrva, is a project which is intended to be spiritual rather than ecclesiastic. Yet it does symbolize faith, hope, and love. The faith in a sensitive attitude to the countryside and people bound to it. The hope that plans arising from the shadows of real socialism will not be implemented. And the love of the Beskydy Mountains, their fragile strength that could be endangered.
Sounding the Guardian Spirit of a Place
What is all this about, actually? There are plans to mine black coal in the Beskydy Mountains. Although the plans were drawn up during the socialist economy, when the plunder of unrecoverable resources powered the doubtful movement of the revolution for world peace and human happiness, the death knell has not yet been rung for the exploitation of natural riches. The objective of the Naše Beskydy civic association is to literally bury the plans for mining and have the Frenštát Mine filled for good. In summer 2009, the Naše Beskydy representatives approached the Kamil Mrva Architect Studio to design a bell tower for the death knell they needed. This bell tower would be the voice of the local spirit.
The guardian spirit of a place, i.e. the sum of features we perceive as typical for a given location, are not just visual characteristics, but also those that affect other senses, such as sounds, scents, and sensations. To bring back the spirit of the Beskydy Mountains, the architects drew inspiration from local historical models. They cite the log bell tower in Trojanovice and the St. Cyril and Method Chapel on Mount Radhošť, with their façades cladded with shingles to protect them against raw weather conditions, among the sources of their inspiration. In this sense, the approach of the Czech designers is deconstruvist in many ways. They break down their sources of inspiration to irreducible factors to bring them together later, in a contemporary form.
Those who will spot their bell tower will have no doubt that it is a contemporary construction. Yet, the materials, the finishing and processing methods, and the colours are traditional. “The contemporary look and traditional craftsmanship used in constructing the bell tower symbolize both the vision of a better future and a return to traditional values,” commented the creators.
Clearly Towards the Inn – Askance Towards the Mine
The construction site was also selected to refer to traditions. The bell tower is situated in the unique area of Horečky, on the border between the village of Trojanovice and Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, between the Pantáta Shelter Hut and the Rekovice Inn. The Rekovice Inn is the birthplace of Antonín Bača Horečka, who was instrumental in founding the village and establishing its self-governance in 1748.
The whole composition comprises two installations, the bell tower itself and a construction that is like a chapel. The chapel opens with a clear direction towards the road leading to the inn. The meaning is symbolic. Pubs are a traditional he bell tower itself and a construction something like a chapel and a construction that is like a chapel
incubator for community gatherings. The chapel creates a bit of an optical illusion because its width and height narrow to elicit the impression upon entering that it is quite deep and long. But in fact it is a small construction focusing the attention of its visitors to the fascinating view of Mount Velký Javorník, the dominant feature in the countryside. And as if askance, through a narrow aperture in its side, it looks towards the two coal mine headgear towers of the Frenštát Mine.
For inner contemplation, the chapel offers the quiet shelter and a bench. The bell tower standing next to it is a swaying independent construction made of long round logs. The roof protecting the bell is borne in a balanced manner.
The bell is set in motion by means of a draw rod that is installed in the bell tower on festive occasions. An electrical device will be installed there in the future to enable anybody – for a symbolic fee - to ring the death knell for the mines in the Beskydy Mountains.
More than Proclamations
We can read the words of the writer Josef Kalus, a native of Frenštát, on the bell surface, “He who speaks ill of my mountains speaks ill of me; he who protects my mountains pays tribute to me.” The names of the surrounding municipalities that supported the project, as it was supported by a number of associations, organisations, companies, and individuals, are also engraved in the bell. The Minister of the Environment, Jan Dusík, ceremoniously tapped in the foundation stone in February 2010. Dozens of volunteers participated in the construction in April and May. The little bell tower was “opened” and blessed on 15 May 2010.
It is nice that local people decided to face the real threat of disfiguring the countryside with an act of creation. However, I equally like that the bell tower will bear favourable evaluation even without its activist concept. That it is more than a proclamation. It is simply a graceful small piece of architecture, a landart artefact. When the plans for erecting coal mine headgear towers in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm are abandoned and forgotten, when the reasons underlying its origin pass, this bell tower will still be just as beautiful.

I am an English<>Czech
translator. I help companies and individuals communicate in the international
market where accuracy and creativity are needed. I take care of their complete
corporate communication in the target language - from translations of contracts
and internal guidelines to codes and company magazines and from manuals and
marketing materials to websites.
• I enjoy looking for customized language solutions. My goal
is for the translation to be comprehensible, to fulfil the purpose it is
intended for, and to respect the target environment, readers or listeners.
Placing the emphasis on delivering a translation that sounds natural and is
smooth-flowing is of key importance for me. I consider such quality to be an
important tool for carrying out business.
• I take pride in helping companies create and consistently
adhere to their corporate language - specific terminology and style. For this I
also use the translation software SDL Trados Studio and SDL Multiterm, i.e.
tools that allow me to create client-specific translation memories and
dictionaries. Thanks to this I save clients’ time and resources in the case of
long-term cooperation or large-scale projects, where parts of the texts and
terminology are repeated.
• I began my full-time freelance career as a translator in
2001, and have remained in the business without interruption to the present
day. Either directly or through cooperating agencies, I have translated for
example for SUDOP, LUSH, Saint-Gobain, Labona, and Spaneco.
• In addition to the corporate sector, I cooperate with
universities (e.g. Masaryk University Brno, Palacký University Olomouc) and
participate in translation projects for public administration institutions
(ministries, EU institutions). I also use this knowledge and translation
experience when providing services to companies and entrepreneurs.
• In the past, I worked as a translator and interpreter at
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
