Source text - German Aber das alles spielte sich vor zehn Jahren ab. Vor einigen Tagen fuhr ich wieder über jene Brücke. Mein Gott, wie gedankenlos war ich in Königstadt in den Zug gestiegen! Ich hatte die ganze Geschichte vergessen. Wir fuhren mit einem Zug aus Güterwagen, und als wir uns dem Rhein näherten, geschah etwas Seltsames: Ein Waggon vor uns verstummte nach dem anderen; es war ganz merkwürdig, so als sei der ganze Zug von fünfzehn oder zwanzig Waggons wie eine Reihe von Lichtern, von denen nun eins nach dem andern erlosch.
Und wir hörten ein scheußliches, hohles Rattern, ein ganz windiges Rattern; und plötzlich war es, als werde mit kleinen Hämmern unter den Boden unseres Waggons geklopft, und auch wir verstummten und sahen es: nichts, nichts…nichts; links und rechts von uns war nichts, eine gräßliche Leere… ferne sah man die Uferwiesen des Rheines… Schiffe… Wasser, aber der Blick wagte sich gleichsam nicht zu weit hinaus: Der Blick sogar schwindelte.
Translation - Indonesian Semua itu terjadi sepuluh tahun kebelakang. Beberapa hari yang lalu aku melintasi jembatan itu lagi. Ya Tuhan, tanpa pikir panjang aku naik kereta di Königstadt. Aku telah melupakan cerita itu. Kami berangkat dengan kereta dari Güterwagen dan ketika mendekati sungai Rhein sesuatu yang aneh terjadi. Sebuah gerbong di depan kami berhenti tiba-tiba. Benar-benar aneh, kereta api dengan 15 atau 20 gerbong itu bak barisan cahaya yang kini padam.
Lalu kami mendengar bunyi gema yang menakutkan, samar. Tiba-tiba di bawah lantai gerbong seperti ada yang memukul-mukul dengan palu. Kami pun terdiam. Kami melihat, tak ada apa pun. Tak ada apa-apa. Tak ada apa-apa, di sebelah kiri dan kanan kami tidak ada apa-apa. Hanya kekosongan yang menakutkan. Dari kejauhan tampak padang rumput di tepi sungai Rhein… kapal-kapal… air, tapi tatapan seolah tak berani beranjak darinya. Malah tatapan itu gamang.

Source text - English Billions of years ago, our galaxy gave birth
to an unassuming star. Even today, that star is
the only one astronomers can study in detail.
Approximately 4.6 billion years ago, a cold
cloud of gas and dust buried deep in one of
the Milky Way galaxy's spiral arms started
to collapse. Perhaps strong winds from a massive
star or a shock wave from a nearby
supernova explosion triggered the collapse
— from our distance in time, we'll never know
for sure.
Whatever the cause, the force of gravity then
started to work its magic: The cloud began to
contract and fragment. One of those fragments
was destined to become our Sun and
the rest of the solar system. The other fragments
also spawned stars that have long since
moved away from their birthplace â_” there's
no way to determine which ones might have
been our siblings. But while the star-formation
process was going full bore, our small part of
the galaxy probably looked like the Orion
Nebula (M42) or one of the other similar starforming
regions we see around us today.

bintang sederhana. Bahkan kini, bintang
tersebut satu-satunya yang dapat
dipelajari oleh para astronom secara detail.
Kira-kira 4,6 milyar tahun yang lalu, sebuah
awan dingin berisi gas dan debu yang terletak
di salah satu tangan spiral galaksi bima
sakti mulai hancur. Kemungkinan angin besar
dari bintang masif atau goncangan dari
ledakan supernova di sekitarnya memicu
kehancuran ini –dari jarak waktu kita, kita
tidak akan tahu dengan pasti.
Apa pun penyebabnya, gaya gravitasi kemudian
mulai menjalankan keajaibannya: Awan
mulai mengerut dan terpecah-pecah. Salah
satu pecahan itu ditakdirkan menjadi
matahari dan seluruh sistem tata surya. Pecahan
lain pun menjadi bintang-bintang yang
terlempar jauh sejak dilahirkan. Tak ada
cara untuk menentukan yang mana saudara
kita. Sementara proses pembentukan bintang
berjalan dengan membosankan, bagian kecil
galaksi kemungkinan terlihat seperti Orion
Nebula (M42) atau salah satu dari bentuk
bintang yang kita lihat di sekitar kita saat ini.
