I offer translation from Swedish to English (my native language), specializing in the field of biomedical sciences and information technology.

I am qualified to PhD level in biomedical sciences, and have twenty five years experience of research in this area, on a wide range of subjects. In parallel with my laboratory-based research, I developed an interest in computing science and bioinformatics, and have worked full-time in this area for the past five years.

I lived in Sweden for three years, from 1995 to 1997, during which time I carried out postdoctoral research at the Karolinska Institute, one of the largest medical research institutions in Scandinavia. During that time, I gained a working knowledge of Swedish, travelled widely throughout Sweden and Norway, and would consider myself knowledgeable about Scandinavian culture and history. As one of the few native English speakers in the department, I was frequently asked to proof-read and edit drafts of scientific papers and PhD theses, and my work in this area was considered to be of a high standard.

Since returning to the UK in 1998, I have continued my study of the Swedish language and now offer freelance translation and proofreading services.
