Bio
I'm a Texas born Mexican American English>Spanish Interpreter & Translator. I spent my early childhood living in Chihuahua, Mexico and returned to the U.S. in grade school, without a "lick'a" English in my vocabulary! {eeeek! hahaha! :)} By fifth grade though, I was fluent in English and Spanish and could read and write both languages. I feel blessed to have lifelong experience in two languages because it allows me to make connections and establish relationships with twice as many people as opposed to a monolingual counterpart. My love for languages has driven me to a career as a linguist and currently, I am pursuing certification in Deaf Studies and American Sign Language Interpreting/Translating.
I am a natural born communicator, for as long as I can remember, I have interpreted and or translated Spanish and English on a daily basis. Living in one of Texas's larger cities gives me the opportunity to use my bilingual skills to bridge language barriers daily. Having worked in the medical field and within the city's public school district, has fostered an education, knowledge, professionalism, and experience that can only come from the time in hands-on work. It gives me great joy to be able to help facilitate communication between people that would otherwise, not be able to understand each other.
Until the Fall of 2016, I always worked as the traditional "bilingual" office employee in the "9-5" type work setting and spent the last seven years in the medical field. In October 2016, I had the opportunity to begin working independently as a freelance Spanish>English Interpreter and Translator. I am excited to be able to work exclusively as a language professional, my hands-on experience in the medical and education settings provide me with knowledge and experience to specialize in Medical Interpretation/Translation services, as well as areas related to school, education, & community affairs. Having actually worked as both a medical assistant and teacher's assistant in the special education setting has allowed me to learn technical terminology and knowledge of protocols in those fields that perhaps other English>Spanish linguists may not be aware of.
I thank you for visiting my profile and your interest in my skills. I look forward to making new connections and bridging as many language gaps as I possibly can!

-Jessica Godinez,
